Portrait Shoot - Hannah / by Ivor Karabatkovic

Hannah and I met last year and finally got a chance to collaborate on a shoot. She's incredibly sweet and a really talented singer/songwriter here in Nashville. We decided to shoot at an abandoned airport in Nashville. What an awesome place. Despite some rain, we managed to get a lot of different looks in.

I decided to rent the Canon 85mm F/1.2L. What a magical lens. While the 85 1.8 USM is a great value (with faster focusing), the 85L shot like a dream on my full frame 5D Mark II. If I was shooting weddings or portraits, I'd consider selling everything but my 24-70mm 2.8 and I'd shoot with it and the 85L exclusively. There really isn't anything bad about it. I fell in love!

Paired with a Full Frame sensor camera (5D Mark II), the 85L gets rid of any possible background while keeping the subject tack sharp.

Colors and contrast are phenomenal with the Canon 85L.
