"If you see someone without a smile today, give 'em yours."
- Dolly Parton
Being asked to capture behind-the-scenes photos for a Dolly Parton music video was one of those “pinch-me” moments in my career. As a longtime fan, documenting her in action was more than just an assignment—it was a true honor. Knowing how beloved and iconic she is, I went in with the goal to capture her essence and the joy she brings to everything she does.
From the moment I stepped onto the set, Dolly’s presence was magnetic. She greeted everyone with warmth, exuding kindness and professionalism that set the tone for the entire day. Watching her work, it was clear why she’s a legend. She engaged with the crew, kept the energy high, and maintained her signature humor and charm, which made everyone feel at ease.
I spent the day weaving between set pieces, capturing Dolly in every facet—from the quiet, reflective moments preparing for a scene to the vibrant, energetic takes that showcased her incredible talent. Knowing how much this shoot would mean not just to Dolly's fans but to anyone who loves her work, I focused on telling a story with each shot, documenting the atmosphere and behind-the-scenes magic.
The result? A collection of images that I’m incredibly proud of, each one reflecting a timeless moment in the making of Dolly’s vision. It was the kind of shoot that leaves a lasting impression, not only because of the subject but because of the person she is—kind, gracious, and unforgettable.

As a bonus, Dolly’s team invited me to capture a private event with the Parton Sisters, where Dolly performed to a small, intimate crowd. Watching her in that setting was magical—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Photographing her among those she holds dear, I was able to capture Dolly in a way that most people never get to see: up-close, genuine, and joyfully sharing her gift in its purest form.
This experience was one of many unforgettable moments I’ve had while shooting for Country Weekly. Alongside Dolly’s shoot, I’ve had the privilege to document a diverse range of incredible events, from the high energy of Billy Ray Cyrus's video shoot to capturing the excitement of Carrie Underwood’s #1 single party. I’ve covered multiple CMA Fests, where country music shines at its best, and intimate settings like documenting Vince Gill's fundraising dinner with the American Heart Association at his home in Nashville.
For Country Weekly Magazine, I was able to attend many #1 Single parties for Hunter Hayes, Jake Owen, and Keith Urban, I captured live images of Luke Bryan for his cover story, and captured the raw energy on video shoots for Randy Houser, Colt Ford, and Eli Young Band. I’ve also documented the deeply moving George Jones Memorial Service and spent time with Aaron Tippin and his family for a personal feature about his son taking his first flight as a pilot. Each assignment has been a unique experience, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to witness and preserve these moments through my lens.
These photos, published in Country Weekly, are memories for me and hopefully lasting images that fans and readers will enjoy for years to come.
